Bowl games aren’t about who looks better on paper — they’re about who still looks like a football team. December football brings weird motivation, shuffled staffs, opt-outs, and just enough chaos to reward anyone willing to slow down and read between the lines.

Today’s slate gives us a little of everything: a MAC team missing half its leadership, a dome game begging for points, and a sneaky spot where experience might matter more than the number. Let’s walk through what actually matters before kickoff.

MATT’S CORNER

Boca Raton Bowl

Louisville (-8.5) vs. Toledo O/U 43.5

Weather: Chance of light rain and wind.

Opt-Outs/Transfers: Toledo is missing a lot. They are without their head coach and several coordinators who have left to take other jobs. The team is also without three defensive starters and their starting QB Tucker Gleason most likely. Louisville has had two defensive starters opt out and WR Chris Bell is out with an injury. They've also had some injury issues at RB as well.

Motivation: Toledo should be more motivated as they get a P4 opponent, but the departures don't exactly help.

Edges: Both teams have great defenses, but how much will the personnel changes hurt them both.

Verdict: Tease the Cardinals down to a reasonable number or throw them in a ML parlay with one or two other teams you like.
