He had 9 strikeouts in Fenway two years ago, so he's proven he can work in this park. In afternoon starts last year, he averaged 5.6 Ks per start — right at this number — though he did go under in both road afternoon starts, posting around 3 Ks in each. Worth noting: both of those came against low-K rate teams in the Marlins and Guardians. Today's opponent is a different story. Five of the nine batters in Boston's projected starting lineup carry above-average whiff rates against right-handed pitching. And RHSP have gone 10-7 O/U against the Red Sox this year, averaging 5.5 Ks per start — with five of the last six starters going over their K prop vs. Boston.

The afternoon splits give me some pause, but the lineup matchup is real.

BOS RHP SONNY GRAY OVER 5.5 KS — +125 🟢 SHARP

Plus money on a pitcher who went for 10 Ks against this exact Detroit lineup last year? I'm listening.

Gray averaged 6.2 Ks per start in afternoon games last season and went over in 7 of 13 of those spots. RHSP have gone 10-7 O/U against Detroit this year, averaging 5.2 Ks per start. The value on the plus side here is what pushes this into Sharp territory for me.
