MATT’S CORNER
🔥 Appalachian State vs. Charlotte
Friday August 29th, 2025 - 7:00 PM ET
This game is taking place at the Carolina Panthers stadium. These two teams are extremely similar with both returning only seven total starters and breaking in new head coaches as well.
I don't think either team will have an edge when it comes to homefield advantage so it'll most likely come down to which transfer quarterback gets more acclimated in his offense quicker.
It should also be noted that Mountaineers running back Kanye Roberts tore his ACL in practice and will be out for the season.
MATT’S CORNER
🔥 Western Michigan @ Michigan State
Friday August 29th, 2025 - 7:00 PM ET
The Spartans went 0-4 ATS last year as a home favorite. They have the massive experience advantage in this one as Western Michigan has just seven starters back overall.
There is no real look-ahead factor here either with a home game against BC up next so I expect a solid effort from Michigan State.
Something to watch here is the kicking situation for the home team who may have to turn to their third stringer if the others aren't available. If that's the case, they may go for it more on 4th down which will affect playcalling.
MATT’S CORNER
🔥 UNLV at Sam Houston State
Friday August 29th, 2025 - 9:30 PM ET
Both of these teams played in week zero so any advantages they had have disappeared. Both are playing on a short week as well making things more interesting.
The Rebels nearly lost to an FCS opponent while SHSU struggled defensively against Western Kentucky and is now 0-1 in Conference USA play. The Bearkats will not be playing at their stadium on campus and actually will play at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston which is primarily used for soccer.
